Large format tiles are particularly large tiles. Formats from about 60 × 60 cm are usually considered large format. Typical sizes are, for example:
They create a calm, generous look with few joints. For installation, a very level substrate and usually special tools are required. There is no binding minimum size.
With large formats, the substrate determines the result. Unevenness can hardly be compensated for with large slabs and will later become visible as overhang or voids. Therefore, we check flatness, load-bearing capacity, and residual moisture before installation.

We install large format tiles using the Buttering-Floating method: The adhesive is applied to both the substrate and the back of the tiles. Each slab is then vibrated to ensure it lies fully supported and free of voids in the adhesive bed. This is not an end in itself: Voids under large formats can lead to cracks and chipping under load – and with underfloor heating to uneven heat distribution.
For transport and positioning of slabs up to 160 × 320 cm, we work with vacuum suction lifters and carrying frames, and alignment is done with a leveling system.
We cut recesses for sockets, fixtures and niches precisely. We miter the outer edges - for example at shower niches, bases or window sills - so that surfaces transition into each other without visible end profiles. For floors in showers and wet areas, we choose tiles with appropriate slip resistance (R-class) to ensure safety and aesthetics are equally guaranteed.
